About Mosedale End Farm

Exclusively for guests STAYING at Mosedale End Farm. Sorry, we do not offer help the farmer or work experience days

You might hear 'come bye or away' as my 'One Man and his dogs' fetches in the sheep for a health check or moves them to a new field. In spring the fields are full of Ewes and Lambs and in summer we are busy haymaking plus shearing. We have about 800 Swaledale and Mule ewes and 25 beef suckler cows and calves and 1 bull. There is also our free-range hens which you can feed.

The farm is in an environmental stewardship scheme which means we get paid to look after the beautiful landscape by doing things like not using too much artificial fertilizer & encouraging wildflowers, cutting hedges in autumn so not to disturb nesting birds in spring and repairing the stone walls.

Lambing at Mosedale End Farm

Exclusively for guests STAYING at Mosedale End Farm.

A birth is always special, and April is when our 800 ewes have their babies and in May our fields will be full ewe’s & lambs. Guests staying at Mosedale End Farm B&B and Glamping Pod, will be able to see newborn Lambs dancing and playing in the fields with their Mothers.

If there is a ewe is in labour and about to give birth we will inform you and you can come and watch the birth of a new lamb. So cameras and boots at the ready, just in case one is being born while you are staying with us Mosedale End Farm. We can`t guarantee you will see a birth, as Mother Nature works to her own time, but we can arrange a photo with an orphan lamb.

Please DO NOT visit the lambing shed by yourselves as strangers can upset the pregnant ewes. If you want to see them PLEASE ASK.

Please remember to always wash your hands and boots afterwards.

NOT suitable for pregnant ladies.
